Any Site embed
Alt text for any website, in one line
No plugin? No problem. Paste a single snippet or add a Google Tag Manager tag, and Alt Text Meta describes every image missing alt text, using the same engine as our WordPress and Shopify apps.
Uses your Managed plan credits. One credit per unique image, never per page view.
Your snippet looks like this
<script src="https://alttextmeta.com/embed.js" data-key="site_…" defer></script>Charts get a data table too
When an image is a chart, the snippet can add the underlying numbers as a real table under it. Try the options below to see how it looks.

Our year in numbers
Online orders kept climbing this year, helped by faster delivery and a new mobile app.
View chart data
| Year | Sales (millions of pounds) |
|---|---|
| 2021 | 1.2 |
| 2022 | 1.9 |
| 2023 | 2.6 |
| 2024 | 3.4 |
Sales nearly tripled between 2021 and 2024.
Next year we plan to open two new warehouses.
Exact numbers from your own data
Pair a chart with its source data and the description uses your real figures instead of reading them off the picture. The snippet picks data up automatically from:
- a CSV download link next to the chart, inside the same figure or paragraph
- an HTML table inside the same figure
data-atm-csv="/data/q3.csv"on the image, pointing at a CSV filedata-atm-table="#q3-table"on the image, pointing at a table elsewhere on the pagedata-atm-data="Quarter,Revenue Q1,120"with the data written inline
Up to 20,000 characters per chart. CSV files on another domain must allow cross-site access. Changing the data creates a fresh description.
How it works
Add your domain
Sign in, open your account and enter your website address. We create a snippet tied to that domain.
Paste one line
Drop the snippet before the closing head tag, or add it as a Custom HTML tag in Google Tag Manager.
Alt text fills in
When a page loads, images with missing or junk alt text get a description. Your status switches from Pending to Connected.
Google Tag Manager in two minutes
- In GTM, open Tags, then New, then Custom HTML.
- Paste your snippet from your account.
- Choose the All Pages trigger.
- Save, Submit and Publish. Done, no developer needed.
Safe to put in public HTML
- Your key only works on the domain you registered.
- A per-minute limit stops sudden credit drain from scrapers.
- Regenerate the key any time from your account.
- Results are saved, so repeat visits cost nothing.
Works on
On WordPress or Shopify? Use the plugin or app instead, which saves alt text permanently and adds chart data tables.
Questions
Does every visit use a credit?
No. Each unique image is described once and remembered. Every visit after that is served from the saved result at no cost.
Can someone copy my snippet and use my credits?
No. The key only works on the domain you registered. Requests from any other website are refused, and you can regenerate the key in one click.
Does it slow my pages down?
The script is tiny, loads after your page and never blocks it. New images are described in the background and appear within seconds.
Will search engines see the alt text?
Google renders JavaScript, so it generally sees injected alt text. For guaranteed results in the page source, use our WordPress plugin or Shopify app, which save alt text permanently.
Does it touch images that already have good alt text?
No. Only images with missing or obviously junk alt text (like IMG_1234.jpg) are changed. Images marked decorative are left alone.
