Who we are

Seventy Four Ltd, trading as Alt Text Meta is the data controller for personal data collected through alttextmeta.com, the WordPress plugin and the Shopify app. That means we decide how and why it is used. Contact: hello@alttextmeta.com.

What we collect, why, and our legal basis

  • Name and email (from checkout or the sales form): to send licence keys, provide support and answer enquiries. Basis: performance of a contract or steps before one.
  • Licence and usage data (licence key, plan, site URL or Shopify store domain, images processed, credits): to provide the Service and enforce plan limits. Basis: contract.
  • Images sent for processing (Managed plan): processed briefly to generate text, and not stored by us afterwards. Basis: contract.
  • Shopify store access token: to update product image alt text in your store. Basis: contract.
  • Technical data (IP address, browser, device, logs): for security, fraud prevention and keeping the site working. Basis: legitimate interests.
  • Support messages: to help you. Basis: contract or legitimate interests.

We do not use your data for advertising and do not sell it.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers: hosting and database, email delivery, and our AI provider (OpenAI/Google, through our AI gateway) for image analysis.
  • Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for the sale, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
  • Professional advisers, such as legal and accounting.
  • Authorities where the law requires it.

International transfers

Some providers process data outside the UK/EEA, such as in the USA. Where they do, we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses (including the UK Addendum).

How long we keep it

We keep licence and customer records while your licence is active, then for up to 6 years for legal and accounting purposes. We keep logs for up to 12 months. Shopify tokens are deleted when you uninstall the app. After that, data is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Under UK and EU GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@alttextmeta.com and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, restricted access to secrets and tokens, and access controls on our database.
